Hasan Hüseyin Yıldırım, born in Malatya, graduated from Hacettepe University School of Health Administration in 1996 with the highest GPA. He started his academic life as a research assistant at the School of Health Administration in the same year. Earning master and PhD degrees at Hacettepe University Health Sciences Institute Health Institutions Management Programme, Yıldırım worked as a visiting research associate (2005-2006) at London School of Economics and Political Science, LSE Health Research Center through Chevening scholarship of the British Council. During this period, Yıldırım mainly focused on health policies, health systems, health economics, health financing and effect of the EU health policies on the health policies of Turkey. Yıldırım worked as a faculty member at Hacettepe University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Department of Health Management until 2017. Besides being a professor of health policies at Health Sciences University Health Sciences Faculty Department of Health Management, Yıldırım is also the director of TÜSEB Turkish Institute for Health Policies. He is also acting director of TÜSEB Turkish Institute for Traditional and Complementary Medicine.
Previoulsy, Yıldırım worked as a Deputy Head of Department of Health Management at Hacettepe University (2012-2013); founder and director of ABSAM Health Researches Centre (2013-2017); member of board of directors of EHMA (European Health Management Association-Belgium) (2015-2016); consultant of TOBB Turkish Health Institutions Council (2015-2017); member of consultative board of International Healthcare Research Centre-USA (2013-2016) and consultant of Sağlık-Sen (2008-2015). Additionally, he worked as a commission expert in the “Parliamentary Research Commission on Research and Designation of Measures for Increasing Violence against Healthcare Professionals” at Turkish Grand National Assambly (2012-2013).
Yıldırım represented Turkey in the international project “Health PROMeTHEUS: Health Professional Mobility in the European Union Study” (2009-2012) financed under the 7th Framework Programme of EU, also took part in the “Turkey Health Literacy Research” conducted on behalf of Sağlık-Sen and “Turkey Medical Tourism Report 2013” and “Turkey International Patient Report 2015-2016” prepared on behalf of the Ministry of Health, Turkey.
Yıldırım wrote 10 books and 25 chapters, and the “Public Policy: Theory and Practice” (2013, Yıldız M and Sobacı MZ, editors) for which Yıldırım wrote chapters won the Noteworthy Copyrighted Work Award under Sciences Academy of Turkey (TÜBA) Scientific Copyrighted and Translated Works Awards in 2014. Furthermore, he got Hacettepe Student Science Incentive Award, İhsan Doğramacı High Achievement Award and SİODER Leading Public Director of the Year Award. Yıldırım has over 130 national and international publications.

Yıldırım have researches in the fields of health policies and planning, health system development, global health diplomacy policies, medical tourism policies, EU health policies and systems, health insurance and payment systems, health industry policies, public health policies, health sociology, comparative health systems, health reforms, social policies, medicine of the prophet, health literacy, health economics and health management.
